When the illusion that the crisis is under control fades away - (May 15th) - Sorcerer’s apprentices are doomed to repeat the same mistakes on and on. In 2007, the authorities’ and large financial institutions’ attempt to conceal the subprime crisis [1] (which had already started hitting hard on the markets in February-March 2007) resulted in a severe and sustainable shock in summer 2007. Quand le mirage de la crise maîtrisée s'évanouit ! Les apprentis sorciers sont condamnés à répéter les mêmes erreurs. Ainsi, en 2007, la tentative des autorités et des grands établissements financiers de camoufler la crise des subprimes [1] qui avait pourtant commencé à frapper durement les marchés en Février/Mars 2007 a abouti au choc brutal et durable de l'été 2007. Et nous allons vivre dans les prochaines semaines, un « remake » de ce scénario, avec l'aggravation de la crise financière des mois de Janvier-Mars 2008, dès le début de l'été 2008. |

Last weeks' news about the Eurogroup meeting and the ECB Board meeting revealed a clear rift between the political leaderships in the eurozone and the European Central Bank. For the first time since the euro started its race for ever new historical heights, all Finance Ministers of the Eurozone agreed to voice unanimous and strong concern about this development. |
