Traductions: A Euroland of the People Ein Euroland der Menschen

Europolitik
Written by Corentin Léotard
Thursday, 12 January 2012

Europolitik
Written by Yan de Kerorguen
Thursday, 12 January 2012

European right wing populism a consequence of lack of political grip of citizens on European level
Europolitik

Abtsract Executive summary 1st conference of the "Euroland Democratic Front": Six Key reforms for a democratic governance of Euroland (Paris, July 2nd & 3rd 2011)
In recent years in almost every state of Euroland populist movements and parties have come into existence or have achieved outstanding successes. An important reason for this is also a lack of political grip of citizens at European level. The influence of citizens is at its lowest at a political level where often the most important policy choices are made. Populist politicians and parties take advantage of this lack of representation, without changing anything in the cause of the problems

[Save Hungarian Democracy] Letter to Viviane Reding
Europolitik
Written by Hungarian Helsinki Committee, Hungarian Civil Liberties Union, Eötvös Károly Policy Institute
Friday, 06 January 2012

Ms. Viviane Reding, European Commission Vice-President, Commissioner in charge of Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship... Since the time when the ruling party Fidesz received a two-third majority in the Hungarian Parliament and consequently obtained a legally unrestricted power to shape the state structure, the system of checks and balances has been dramatically weakened if not demolished. This endangers the prevalence of the fundamental values of the European Union as enshrined in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, especially the principles of democracy and the rule of law.

[Save Hungarian Democracy] Civil Sphere and Grassroots Protests in Hungary
Europolitik
Written by The Contrarian Hungarian
Friday, 06 January 2012

The Hungarian protester in a methodically persistent kind are on the street to show that it is not in their name this government rules on every single occasion that the situation changes for the worse. They are not too tired to show up every time their government breeches against the norms of democracy, human decency and common sense. As the first three protests of December went by, and news of others in the making were received, I thought perhaps what needs to be shown about these protests is not their size, or their energy, but even more importantly the consistency with which they express dissent – and the consistency on the part of the government as well to simply ignore not only its political opposition in parliament, but the civilian movements that had sprung up against it as well. The protests taking place in December in Hungary are really best presented in their pattern of recurrence: as the repeated efforts at civilian resistance to the egregious acts of its government. Here is, then, the list of actions organized by the Hungarian civilian sphere during the month of December:

@jandarasz.co.ukYes, they did it again! British PM Mr. David Cameron has vetoed recently a suggested new E.U. treaty to heal the euro and save the eurozone! While all other 26 heads of states agreed to at least sit on the table and discuss or negotiate the treaty, Britain chose once more to show their true feelings about the single currency!

[Save Hungarian Democracy] Europe and the Hungarian 170 pages strong media law
Europolitik
Written by Margit Reiser-Schober
Friday, 06 January 2012

Despite sharp protests in Hungary itself and from the EU the right wing conservative government pushed a new media law through parliament, getting two thirds of the votes on 21.12.2010. The law intimidates journalists and bloggers and polarizes once again the Hungarian society. A case for the European public!

[Save Hungarian Democracy] Bienvenue en Orbanistan !
Europolitik
Written by Vincze Szabo
Friday, 06 January 2012
